Collaborating extensively with multiple stakeholders at UBC, we developed a program to enhance the educational, behavioural and emotional impact of the Botanical Gardens. To thoroughly understand the visitors and staff members using the space, we developed surveys, questionnaires and conducted group workshops. The diversity in visitors (be it the heights of small children, varying levels of education, eyesight, accessibility, etc.) were all considered in developing the elements of the program. The design seemlessly integrates UBC's current brand and is a respectful, but vibrant addition to the surrounding environment. Sustainability and longevity (a 10-year lifespan, to be exact) were considered when sourcing materials. Using a local vendor and high-pressured laminate, we were able to meet the requirements while staying within budget.

In 1996, TELUS launched its new brand, which initiated a signage project to change existing [signage and wayfinding] throughout all applicable TELUS facilities. The Cygnus team was congratulated as they met the challenges ‘head-on’ and helped to make this a very successful project.
